The completed Laser Spy system was a great demonstration platform, proving that a person with enough motivation could potentially eavesdrop on a conversation a mile away without access to the location. The chances of this actually happening are extremely rare, but nonetheless possible! So, the next time you catch the flicker of a laser beam out of the corner of your eye, ask yourself, "Was that some kid with a keychain pointer, or a highly motivated individual who just read this article"? Yes, indeed, a laser beam can steal your secrets, so your best bet is to be on the receiving end of the beam, not the transmitting end!
